PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors adopted the FY 2022-23 Mendocino County Budget on June 21, 2022 (Resolution 22-143) appropriating $700,000 of the Camping Transient Occupancy Tax to the fire agencies.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In the March 3, 2020, election, Mendocino County voters passed Measure D, imposing a transient occupancy tax on campers. In that same election, advisory Measure E was passed, advising that 75% of the tax be distributed evenly to the recognized fire agencies of Mendocino County and 25% to be spent based on the recommendation of the fire chiefs of the recognized fire agencies in Mendocino County. The Mendocino County Fire Chiefs Association requests that 25% of the allocation be retained and that 75% be evenly distributed (see Attachment A) to the recognized fire agencies in Mendocino County for Fiscal Year 2022-23. A later item will be presented for the final distribution of funds, when the final actual revenues of FY 2022-23 are made available.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Provide direction to staff related to the appropriation of the Camping Transient Occupancy Tax for Fiscal Year 2022-23.
