Approve second amendment to Board of Supervisors Agreement No. 17-161 with Nacht & Lewis Architects in the amount of $346,360 for services related to the new jail facility, for a total revised Agreement amount of $3,327,715, and an extension of the contract term from June 30, 2023 to December 31, 2025; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

Approval of Agreement 17-161 on December 19, 2017; approval of the first amendment to the agreement on February 25 2020 for an energy study to analyze the cost and energy savings associated with heating and cooling options for the project increasing the contract amount by $47,730 and  extending contract to June 30, 2023; on June 12, 2020 Board of Supervisors discussion and direction to use air source heat pumps on the New Jail Facility and increasing project funding by $250,000 for the additional cost including design costs; on January 10, 2023 the Board of Supervisors received updates on the project estimates and schedule which included costs for design services associated with project delays.                     

 

Summary of Request

The original contract term of this agreement was from December 19, 2017 through June 30, 2021 with options to extend the contract up to three (3) additional years. The current schedule anticipates County occupancy on or after December 31, 2025. The Architect will be responsible to provide services under this contract through occupancy. This time extension will allow their work to continue without interruption through the full project schedule.
