Approve Agreement with Eversole Mortuary in the amount of $60,000 to provide for the handling and disposition of last remains of decedents of Mendocino County who have no relatives or other person legally empowered to authorize cremation and disposition, effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024; authorize the Department of Social Services Director or designee to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that do not increase the maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Mendocino County is required by the California Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) to provide indigent cremation services for decedents or families of decedents who meet specific criteria. Mendocino County Department of Social Services (MCDSS) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP 015-22) for indigent cremation services in February 2022. As a result of the RFP, Eversole Mortuary was selected to contract with MCDSS to provide indigent cremation services for the identified regions of "North County" and "Inland" within Mendocino County.
