PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors approves grant applications for the Library each year. Last fiscal year that included the Book-to-Action grant and Zip Books grant applications on September 13, 2022: item 3x and 3y; Lunch-at-the Library program on February 28, 2023: item 3s; etc.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The California State Library provides Library Services and Technology Act funding opportunities each year, and this year the Library is applying for the "Inspiration Grant" to provide science and technology educational "Build-a-Robot" learning programs for youth throughout the county. The funding of $22,300 would provide for each branch will be provided with three fun learning programs, with additional programs for the two outreach locations. The grant funds will cover the supplies for 20 events with up to 15 participants at each event who will be able to take home their robot creation. Additionally, a set of re-usable coding robots for future programming will be acquired as well as related library books for continued learning opportunities after the program completion.
