RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve Agreement with County of Madera Probation Department in the amount of $500,000, with a maximum of $250,000 per year, to provide detention services for Mendocino County youth placed in the facility for the 2-year period commencing upon full execution of this Agreement; authorize the Chief Probation Officer to sign any future amendments which do not increase the total contract amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Madera County Juvenile Detention Facility is among a select number of probation departments that offer housing for secure track youth population, services/programming available based on the needs of the youth, or age of the youth to be placed. Secure track youth are individuals whose care and custody has been realigned to local probation departments as a result of SB 823, who prior to SB 823, would have been sentenced to the care and custody of the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) for the duration of their sentence. Madera County provides services for secure track youth with special programming/service needs.
