The Board of Supervisors adopted the Final Budget including the schedule of fixed assets for FY 16/17.
Summary of Request:
The Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Transportation were involved in two vehicle accidents and a theft leaving three vehicles totaled. The replacement cost of the Sheriff’s Office vehicles are $48,148.87 each and the replacement cost of the Department of Transportation vehicle is $42,716.00. The County is anticipating receipt of a claim to recoup the full cost of the replacement from the insurance company. General Liability will be transferring $20,000.00 for each vehicle (the County’s deductible) in the Sheriff’s Office budget and the Vehicle Replacement Fund, as well as transferring the remaining funds received by the insurance company for the cost of the vehicle. Additionally, an appropriation increase in BU 2310/864370 and BU 0711/864370 is necessary, as well as an offsetting increase in Revenues for BU 2310/827802 and 3010/827802 to allow for purchase of these vehicles.
The Executive Office/Risk Management Division is recommending the replacement of the damaged vehicles. Pursuant to Government Code Section 25262, pertaining to the purchase of assets/vehicles, the Board of Supervisors approval of the acquisition of the asset is required.
