Adopt authorizing Mendocino County Department of Transportation to enter into a contract to receive California Department of Transportation Sustainable Community-Based Transportation Planning Grant Funds in the Amount of $170,500 for the "Orchard Avenue Extension Feasibility Study" (Ukiah Area); and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
By Resolution 12-045 (March 13, 2012) the Board of Supervisors supported the funding application for the preparation of a Feasibility study for Orchard Avenue Extension and designated the Director of Transportation as the County's authorized agent for the applicable Caltrans Transportation Planning Grant.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Caltrans has recently announced the availability of Transportation Planning Grants. The County Department of Transportation has a project that ideally fits the purpose of the Caltrans grants program ? preparation of a feasibility study for the Orchard Avenue Extension. The project will extend Orchard Avenue from its current terminus with Brush Street, CR 217, to The Forks area.

The particular aspect of the Caltrans Transportation Planning Grants Program that's applicable to the Department's project is the Community-Based Transportation Planning (CBTP) Grant. Cities and counties are eligible to apply directly for such grants and a local match is required. The Department is applying ...
