Presentation will cover 3 Implementation Project Plans of the Mendocino County Digital Infrastructure Plan: 2019 - 2025, an overview of broadband data mapping by school district, the FCC’s Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, GEO Partners Crowd Sourced internet speed-tests, broadband element of economic resilience planning and the intersection of connectivity to pandemic and emergency response.
Mendocino County joined the 4-county broadband planning consortium North Bay-North Coast Broadband Consortium in 2014. Each year, individual counties within the consortium develop county-specific work-plans which are approved by the CPUC staff.
In 2020 the North Bay North Coast Broadband Consortium (NBNCBC) and the Broadband Alliance of Mendocino County (BAMC), as county liaison, completed three (3) Implementation Project Plans of Mendocino County Digital Infrastructure Plan: 2019 - 2025.
Project #1 is awaiting a California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) decision on the $158 million grant application through the California Advanced Services Fund (CASF), along with our partner Hunter Communications.
Project #2 for $263 million and Project #3 for $110 million are ready to submit for CASF grants in the next round.
The Broadband Alliance of Mendocino County continues to convene quarterly public outreach meetings to facilitate planning and discussion of broadband services and policy, among the public; County Department Directors; local, State and Federal elected representatives; and Alliance board-members.
