PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Each year, since 1994, the Board of Supervisors approved PCCY/CAPC recommendations for the allocation of the funds from the Children's Trust Fund as required pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code Section 18967. On February 12, 2002, the Board of Supervisors designated the PCCY/CAPC as the child abuse prevention coordinating council for all of Mendocino County and also designated that the Commission administer the Children's Trust Fund.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
PCCY/CAPC is the designated entity for oversight of the Children's Trust Fund. Children's Trust Fund money is to be used to fund child abuse prevention councils, child abuse and neglect prevention, and intervention programs operated by private nonprofit organizations or public institutions of higher education with recognized expertise in fields related to child welfare. For FY 2016-17, PCCY/CAPC voted to recommend distribution of $10,200 to Children's Action Committee (CAC), $6,800 to Mendocino Coast Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council (MCCAPCC), and $3,000 to CASA of Mendocino. Pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code Section 18967, the Board of Supervisors shall make the final decision as to which programs shall be funded.
