SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Mendocino County Sheriff-Coroner Office manages the Mendocino County Jail which houses inmates. There are times when inmates must be temporarily housed outside of the jail. Examples are hospitalizations or other facilities where inmates might be sent for treatment. It is critical that those inmates are attended by qualified security people during their time outside of the jail facility. Due to County staff shortages, the Sheriff-Coroner Office contracts with Professional Events Services to provide security services for times when inmates must be outside of the County jail facility. The County has contracted with Professional Events Services since 2008 for their security services to cover these situations for the County. They are a local contractor and are able to respond quickly with trained and certified staff. The current agreement with the contractor began May 30, 2014 and was extended by an amendment in 2015 to renew May 28, 2018. This current amendment will add an additional $60,000 for a total agreement amount of $110,000.
