RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Receive update regarding Emergency Medical Services in Mendocino County, including potential Local Emergency Medical Services Agency models, and approve the creation of three Mendocino County EMS positions to support EMS services, including an EMS Administrator, EMS Specialist and EMS Medical Director (part time) and provide further direction to staff as appropriate.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On August 15, 2017, the Board of Supervisor approved an updated timeline regarding Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for an Exclusive Operating Area (EOA) for ambulance services and dispatch services for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire Services. On September 19, 2017, the Board of Supervisors reconsidered the action taken on August 15, 2017 and approved the process for the issuance of an RFP for an EOA for ambulance services with the understanding that County staff will continue meeting with City of Ukiah staff to address concerns of the City of Ukiah. The Board of Supervisors also directed staff to negotiate with CALFIRE to ensure enhanced dispatch services that compliment and optimize benefits of an EOA contract.
