PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
December 18, 2018 the BOS approved the 2017 JAG award.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
For the past several years, the Sheriff's Office has applied for and received annual JAG grants from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). 2017 and 2018 application and award processes were interrupted by a litigation process titled California vs. Sessions. This litigation delayed processing of applications and award notifications. The government is now in catch up mode. The 2018 award is $24,422. The grant funds are used to replace aged computer and communications equipment that is essential to the front line law enforcement and support staff for public safety. Approval of this item will commence the 30-day period during which citizens and neighborhood or community organizations will have the opportunity to comment on this award.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Return to staff for alternate handling.
