RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve retroactive Revenue Agreement No. 2019-27 with the U.S. DOJ DEA in the amount of $158,000 for the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis on Federal lands for the term of October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019; and authorize the Sheriff to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that do not increase the annual maximum amount of the Agreement; and authorize Chair to sign same.

July 31, 2018 The BOS approved ratification of submission of the 2018-19 DOJ DEA application.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The U.S. DOJ DEA works with local law enforcement agencies regarding illicit cannabis eradication activities on Federal lands within their jurisdiction. The funds are used to defray costs relating to the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis. They are primarily intended for payment of deputies' overtime while those deputies are directly engaged in the illicit cannabis eradication process. The Agreement runs October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019. The Sheriff's office received the agreement for processing on March 8, 2019, and therefore, is being presented now for retroactive Board consideration. The Sheriff's Office requests all originals (three originals) to be returned for processing with the U.S. DOJ.
