RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve transmission of letter of commitment to Economic Development Commission to fund EDFC at $30,000 annually, for the next three years, for a total of $90,000, allowing EDFC to use this commitment as match for additional grant funding; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
EDFC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in 1995 by the County and the four incorporated Cities to carry out economic development. For more than 20 years, the Board has annually provided funding to EDFC, and appointed Supervisors to sit on the EDFC Board. In 2016, the Board approved Resolution No. 16-140, accepting the Sonoma-Mendocino Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy and endorsing the designation of the Sonoma Mendocino Economic Development District (SMEDD).
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In 2017, the SMEDD received a three year planning grant from the Economic Development Administration. Sonoma County supplied the match and thus received all of the funding ($210,000 over three years). In Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19, Sonoma County contracted directly with EDFC and provided a small amount of funding to support SMEDD coordination services in Mendocino County.
