SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In March 2019 the Board adopted new positions allocated to budget unit 1960 which included a Communications Technician. Communications staff is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and administration of the County's 16 Public Safety microwave communications system towers over a large geographic area, including all Public Safety (Emergency Medical Services, County Fire, Ukiah Police Department, Sheriff's Office and Department of Transportation) radio repeaters and radio communications equipment. Additionally, the Information Services Division is responsible for the implementation of the IT Master Plan, which includes projects and services throughout the County, much of which serve public safety services. As such, there is greater need to have equipped vehicles that contain the necessary tools, parts, and equipment to readily perform services related to the County's Public Safety microwave communications system and county-wide IT services. The Executive Office is requesting a utility vehicle be added to the County's fixed asset list and to finalize the purchase. The funding is currently allocated in Budget Unit 1960; this request is to authorize the acquisition of the fixed asset.
